I am a frequent visitor to the mommy blogs and discussion boards, one product that is always recommended is the 4moms Mamaroo. It was something I just couldn’t get behind, $220 for a baby swing that doesn’t even really swing? Nah, not for me. I kept seeing it though, and my daughters’ bouncy seats and other swings crowded my already small living room, maybe this was something I needed. This swing is aesthetically pleasing; it has a sleek design and it comes in different colors. At only 19.5 inches wide it is narrow enough to tuck in a corner when not it’s not being used. Not only does it look nice, it has Bluetooth technology that enables you to control its five settings and speeds right from your phone. The Mamaroo can also be adjusted to tilt back in a more reclining position for comfort. I really do like these aspects of this product and that’s how I rationalized buying it.
Now that I have the product in my home there are some changes I would like to see happen. Let’s start with the Bluetooth technology, I don’t understand why I can’t Bluetooth my own music to the swing. If my daughter wants to listen to WAP why can’t she? Okay, I’m joking but she loves the Disney classics and it sucks that I can’t connect that for her. The product claims it has interactive toys, but does it really? The toys are too high up for her to grab so I have to take them out of her mobile for her to play with. What’s the point of letting me be lazy with the Bluetooth controls if I still have to get up to hand her toys? Another thing about that mobile is it doesn’t move on its own, at all. I’d like to think for the price of the Mamaroo it would come with features that would benefit the baby over mom and dad.
Overall I think it’s a good product and it does have some pretty cool attributes, but I don’t think it’s worth the price. While my daughter does enjoy it, she also has a lot of fun in her $30 Fisher Price bouncy seat. So when asked the question, would I buy this again? My answer would be no. I’ve seen a lot of companies come out with similar products for half the cost. If price isn’t an issue for you, then go for it. Like I said it’s a good product, I just wish the features lived up to its price tag.
